Davis Library will be CLOSED Saturday, February 21, from 1 – 5 PM, due to the winter storm.

Please remember that electronic research resources continue to be available to your desktop through Davis Library’s RioCat at http://alpha.rio.edu/screens/opacmenu.html and through OhioLINK at http://www.ohiolink.edu.

Reference help continues to be available by emailing refdesk@rio.edu or though Know-It-Now at http://www.rio.edu/library/KnowItNow24x7-Online-Chat.cfm.

Classes start Monday, June 2, 2014 for the Summer I and10-Week Sessions here at the University of Rio Grande/Rio Grande Community College (URG/RGCC.)
 

As the new term begins, we want to announce some new changes to the state-wide online reference services that Davis Library has been making available to its users for after hours research help.

Know-It-Now Academic, a service that was geared primarily for college students and OhioLINK users, is NO LONGER AVAILABLE.

Now, links from the Davis Library’s Website and LibGuides will take users to Know-It-Now/24x7, a similar service that is available to ALL Ohio residents.  The chat forums here are staffed primarily by librarians from Ohio’s public libraries rather than academic libraries.  However, you should be able to ask the same type of questions as before.

Login for the new service only requires you to show your proof of residency (Ohio Zip Cope.)   

Remember the librarians staffing these chat forums are NOT located at URG/RGCC, so they may not be able to answer specific questions about the Davis Library or your class assignments.  

In such cases, you’ll want to “Ask Us!”  Contacting us is easy and our responses are generally made within 24 hours.

It’s frigid!  It’s another cold and snowy day on campus here at the University of Rio Grande/Rio GrandeCommunity College.  If you need someplace warm to study or “chill” for a spell, Davis Library is the place.

We’re back to our regular hours where we’re open both evening and weekend…

• Monday – Thursday ▪ 8 AM – 10 PM
• Friday ▪ 8 AM – 5 PM
• Saturday ▪ 1 – 5 PM
• Sunday ▪ 5 – 9 PM

Throughout the winter months please pay attention to weather and road conditions via www.nixel.com as classes may be delayed or cancelled on occasion based on local public safety agencies reports.  

Notifications about any campus schedule changes should be posted on the university’s home page at www.rio.edu or announced through the university’s RioNet Email messaging system and local area news broadcasts like News Channel 3 - WSAZ.

Don’t forget!  If we aren’t open, many of the OhioLINK Research Databases are still available online through the Davis Library’s Home Page found at:  www.rio.edu/library

Another (It’s Almost Finals Week) Viewpoint

The countdown to the holidays and finals week has begun here at the University of Rio Grande/Rio Grande Community College.  

The last day of classes for the fall semester is Monday, December 9^th and final exams run Tuesday, December 10^th through Friday, December 13^th.

If you need a place to study or have some finishing touches to put on those end-of the-term assignments, then remember Davis Library is open this weekend.  Our hours are:

• Saturday, December 7^th from 1-5 PM
• Sunday, December 8^th from 5-9 PM

(You may want to call ahead 1.800.282.7201, ext. 7005, to make sure we’re open as the winter weather has been a little iffy lately.)

If you need any research help after hours, don’t forget that the statewide online chat reference service Know-It-Now (KIN) Academic is available 24/7 to our students, faculty and staff.  Around-the-clock assistance from professional librarians, how cool is that?

Yes, we’re finishing up “Week 3” of another fall semester here at the University of Rio Grande/Rio Grande Community College.  It’s a very busy time of year and we at Davis Library have been working hard to keep up with everything.

Once again, we want to remind you that we’re now open on weekends—Saturdays 1 -5 PM & Sundays 5-9 PM.
