J. David Mauer, Director of the Davis Library for the past 35 years, bids a final farewell to the University of Rio Grande/Rio Grande Community College. Today is Mauer’s last day on campus before his retirement, which becomes official beginning June 1^st.

Many changes that have taken place at the institution since he first arrived campus—particularly with regard to Davis Library’s growth and development.  Learn more about the important leadership role Mauer has played in expanding both student and faculty access to high-quality scholarly information resources in Davis Library’s most recent newsletter Ex Libris et Altera, Vol. 13, No. 2, Spring 2015.

Final exams are over! And, the 139^th Commencement of Rio Grande takes place tomorrow Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 1 PM. Despite all the excitement surrounding this weekend, we at the Davis Library can’t help but feel a little bittersweet about the occasion. 

Soon, we’ll be saying our good-byes to long-time Library Director J. David Mauer. He retires at the end of this month after 35 years of service to the University of Rio Grande/Rio Grande Community College.

Whole New (Getting Ready for Graduation) View

It’s Finals Week here at the University of Rio Grande/Rio Grande Community College and the grounds-keeping and maintenance crews are busy getting things ready for Rio Grande's Graduation Ceremony, which will take place on the lawn not too far from the front steps of the Davis Library.

During this week, Davis Library’s hours will be modified some. Then, next week we’ll go straight into our summer hours. A few details on those upcoming changes to hours of operation are as follows:

• OPEN 8 AM – 10 PM - Monday, April 27^th – Wednesday, April 29^th

• OPEN 8 AM – 5 PM - Thursday, April 30^th & Friday, May 1^st

• CLOSED - Saturday, May 2^nd; Sunday, May 3^rd & Monday, May 4^th (Staff Development)

• Summer Hours Begin Tuesday, May 5^th - Davis Library OPEN 8 AM – 5 PM Mondays – Thursdays & CLOSED Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays (effective until mid-August with some additional holiday closings expected.)
