Another (Brrr…) Viewpoint

View of Davis Library's grounds around 12:35 PM Friday 2.7.14
Yes, almost immediately after the groundhog saw his shadow, 6-8 inches of snow dumped onto the University of Rio Grande/Rio Grande Community College campus causing closings and delays for Davis Library throughout the week.  At any rate, it looks like “Old Man Winter” is here to stay with us for a while.

To beat the doldrums of being stuck inside and because we don’t want groundhogs to have all the fun, we're highlighting a little shadowgraphy in today’s post.

So, sit back and enjoy a short video of hand shadow puppetry featuring performance artist Raymond Crowe

Or, if you want to learn more about how to make your own shadow puppets, check out the following videos from VideoJug with professional puppeteer Corina Bona

Davis Library also has the book Worlds of Shadow: Teaching with Shadow Puppetry by David and Donna Wisniewski in its collection, which is also available for Rio Grande students, faculty and staff to borrow via OhioLINK and SearchOhio if it's already been checked-out.

Brrr… stay warm and make the best of what’s left of winter!

Then, don’t forget!  If you need research help or want to find more resources on the art of shadowgraphy, you can always… “Ask Us!
