One week from today is the 4th of July—the
celebration of the birth of the United States of America and the adoption of
the Declaration
of Independence on July 4, 1776.
To “let freedom ring”… Davis
Library will be CLOSED Wednesday, July 4, 2012.
All University of Rio
Grande/Rio Grande Community College face-to-face classes should be
cancelled on that date too and NO campus offices are to be open. Regular summer hours will resume at 7 AM
Thursday, July 5th. (See Davis Library’s hours at: http://library.rio.edu/pdf/hours.pdf)
Enjoy a happy and
safe holiday!
This week, in honor and recognition of the historical
significance of Independence Day in the U.S. we’d like to highlight America:
History and Life, another EBSCOhost
Research Database available to Rio Grande students, faculty and staff via OhioLINK.
America: History and Life is the definitive index
to literature on the history, culture and current affairs of both the United
States and Canada, from prehistory to the present. This important bibliographic tool offers
access to information from 1,700 journals dating as far back as 1910.
While this database emphasizes English-language journals, a
balanced international perspective is provided with the inclusion of details on
a broad range of articles published in more than 40 languages. Citations and links to book and media reviews
also add value making this online resource essential to scholars wanting to
learn more about Northern America.
As with most OhioLINK
Databases featured on our blog, log in is required for “Off-Campus Access” to this research
tool.
